Climate: Subarctic, growing maritime with thaw of sea ice, inland climate during wintertime when Norton Sound freezes over, annual precipitation of roughly 12 inches. Annual snowfall around 40 inches, winter temperatures averaging -5 degrees to the mid-teens, F. Summer temperatures averaging 40-60 degrees F.
